Four-Year BA in Psychology (Applied Emphasis)

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Applied Emphasis)

Concordia’s four-year Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Applied Emphasis) program offers courses which gives students a foundation in the knowledge and skills needed for a career in the human services field. It also prepares them for the graduate degree work needed to become a psychologist (or clinical social worker or occupational therapist). Students learn communication skills such as observing, listening, and paraphrasing. They have opportunities to apply these skills in a real life setting. The 4-year psychology undergraduate program is offered in two streams:

  1. Basic program – Students complete one field placement course (PSY 486). The placement is a full-year university course, and students spend 160 hours (approx. 8 hr/wk) at their placement site from September to April.
  2. Enhanced program – Students who received an excellent evaluation in their first field placement have the option to complete a second full-year field placement (PSY 496). Sample Program
